VIDEO FORMATS
We support basically all video tape formats from historic or latest HD formats:
- Historic open reel formats: 2-inch, 1-inch A-/B-/C-formats, HD1250, 1/2″ EIAJ etc.
- 3/4in cassette base: U-Matic, BVU Broadcast U-Matic, D1, D2, D6 etc.
- 1/2in cassette base SD: BetaCam family (Analog, SP/SX), IMX/Digital Betacam, VHS/S-VHS, Philips VCR, M-Format, D3, D5, D6 – VOODOO, D9/D-VHS etc.
- 1/4in cassette base: DV, DVCam, DVCPro
- HD Formats: HDCam, HDCam SRD5 HD, D9 HD, DVCPro HD, HDV etc.
- Optical & Other Formats: 8mm Family (8mm, Hi8, D8), DVD, BD, XDCam etc.
We encode and transcode in any format from uncompressed or compressed and any production formats and packages.
FILM FORMATS
Everything from 8mm up to 35mm film, we transfer film to SD, HD, 1K, 2K or 4K resolutions and higher for over-scans in various sound configurations (optical, magnetic, co-mag etc.). We have many different scanner technologies available with all required chemical and physical preparation of archival film.
With a dedicated high capacity IT infrastructure with Petabyte-scale high bandwidth production storage and infrastructure, we process large volume of high resolution film, transcode into production formats like ProRes or DNx families etc. and create preservation files in DPX, FFV1 or JPEG2000 and frame-wise checksums, grading and color/image correction processes.
IMAGE/2D
We take tape covers, register cards, documents, photographs, negatives, posters, lobby cards as well as the audiovisual carriers to image all information attached or written on them.
With high resolution imaging and advanced workflows, we process 2D imaging and scanning in TIFF/RAW as well as compressed derivatives in JPEG or PDF/A and other formats.
Information can be extracted with OCR or Human Data operator tagging and conversion to make the documents discoverable and aligned with associated media formats.
DATA TAPES
Migration is a continuous process. We support data tape and format migration. From old LTO formats pre-LTFS standards to floppy disks or even modern formats like DCP/HDDs. Let us do the heavy lifting of petabytes of data to be processed and re-packaged into next generation storage or into the cloud.
Migration is more than just a copy from left to right. We offer validation (incl DPX sequences), file integrity tests and checksum re-calculations, metadata re-alignment or new metadata extractions as well as transcoding or reformatting into new formats as part of the process. ROBOTICS
Memnon MIRAGE (Memnon Ingest Robot for AV inGEst) is a highest performance and throughput digitization robot fully developed by the Memnon R&D team supporting several formats and automation from cleaning to ingest and quality monitoring.
We also use Sony Flexicarts cart robots and have developed specific monitoring processes which are linked to our overall workflow and provide optimal quality control.
HIGH PERFORMANCE NAS
Memnon Extreme Storage (MES) is our in-house developed highest performance and bandwidth NAS storage solution to support the throughput needed of the robots as well as our multi stream 4K+ scanning and processing operations.
Every unit is geared to highest bandwidth utilizing latest EPYC high performance server multiprocessors, but also holds a capacity of 2+ PB per unit.
SPECIAL TRANSFER & CLEANING EQUIPMENT
We have developed a multitude of special machines and modifications of VTRs and playback machines to optimize the digitization and transfer process. Our engineering is continuously developing new equipment and modifications from direct bond on heads to monitor the status and transfer, special wetgate mechanisms for an optimised transfer of degraded media or chambers and special cleaning machines for mold or special format treatment.
