Role Profile

The mission of the Business Development Manager for the Americas market (covering North-, Middle and Latin America) is developing the existing sales accounts by identifying new prospects and opportunities, as well as pro-actively hunt for new clients. The Business Development Managers are responsible for all business development activities in their respective regions, and will also manage the relations with the local Sony sales teams and leverage their support. It will require to develop opportunities pro-actively across a wide field of potential customers such as broadcasting and media companies (radio & television), GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums), national culture and heritage organizations, international and public institutions… but also in NGO/NPO and in the private sectors.

As Business Development manager, you will be also responsible for working on your own offers to clients and driving the bid submissions. You will, therefore, need to have experience in the field of public tenders. Good public relations are critical – you will represent Memnon in front of business stakeholders in commercial fairs and professional conventions and will prepare and make presentations. As part of the sales and marketing team you will also use commercial tools like CRM and other specific tools.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Hunting for new clients and projects, as well as identifying commercial leads and opportunities within existing customers
  • Understand and continuously learn more about the market, the customers and the respective segments including competition, requirements, technical development, market trends etc.
  • Representing Memnon at commercial fairs/trade shows and participating into business events, conferences, seminars and in social media channels
  • Monitoring public and private tender
  • Managing tenders, mainly within the public sector
  • Manage communication, correspondence and coordination
  • Writing and creating offers, and supporting, reviewing and/or also writing bid or section of bids
  • Participating in defining big pictures solutions and proposals together with technical and operational teams for answering to client’s requests
  • Calculation of Costing and Pricing/Commercial Proposal
  • Creating and designing presentations for customers, trade shows etc. (Power Point)
  • Leading the start of a won contracts together with the project and delivery teams (internal kick-off) and with the client (client kick-off) and managing smooth transition from sales to project management
  • Manage and update company database and customer relationship management systems (CRM)

Reporting line

  • You’ll report directly to the CEO and the head of US operations
  • You’ll collaborate closely with the operational teams
  • You’ll work with the local Sony sales teams to leverage their support 

Location

  • Location independent in the US or Canada
  • Business trips to clients covering the entire Americas region as well as regular meetings at the Americas HQ in Bloomington, IN

Profile required

Education and Experience

  • You have a University degree and structured approach to things
  • You have a minimum of 5 years experience in a similar position in business development or sales development
  • Experience in solutions and/or services selling
  • Fundamental knowledge of audio video/film technologies and/or media industry
  • Preferably, familiar with public sector bid process

Competencies

  • You have a basic knowledge of technical matters (audiovisual)
  • You are experienced with MS Office (Word, Power Point and Excel)
  • You have good skill in writing offers and bids
