Memnon core business is the digital audiovisual industry. The company provides audiovisual digitization and archive management services for customers in Broadcast & Media, Research & Education, National Archives and Cultural Institutions, and many governmental, international and NGO/NPO organizations.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Memnon Archiving Services SA (“Memnon”) is built around content preservation, servicing and monetisation. Through a combination of industry expertise and technical excellence, we manage our clients’ most significant media assets across the content lifecycle. By making media collections and libraries accessible, discoverable and usable, we empower organisations to tell stories and drive value from their content. The ES Media Group is a specialist supplier of end-to-end services for the professional broadcast and production industries, encompassing broadcast equipment sales and rental, broadcast systems integration, production equipment rental and media services. The ES Media Group is the parent company of Memnon.

The business requires a technical pre-sales resource to assist with technical questions or concerns during the pre-sales process and frequently participate in the initial portion of the project specification process. The position requires a good deal of experience and skills in both client relationship and technical domains. As a pre-sales Technical Engineer, your role is to move the sales process forward by providing technical support. You shall act as a technical expert in customer presentations, in addition, you help determine the technical requirements to meet client goals and act as liaison between Memnon’s sales, orchestration, infrastructure and production divisions.

DUTIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Providing comprehensive Pre-Sales technical support to the sales team both written or by contacting a client to talk through project requirements
• Providing a technical and operational bridge to the Memnon Software development team as part of the Memnon Onboarding process
• Producing production level swim lane based process flow charts as inputs to support the onboarding process
• Working closing with the Infrastructure and Engineering departments so as to accurately interpret the clients requirement
• Accompanying sales people to client meetings, creating & compiling supporting technical materials
• Supporting Memnon’s responses to requests for information or requests for proposals
• Creating and delivering technical presentations to prospective clients
• Assisting the sales team to propose cost effective solutions for problems that arise.
• Assisting marketing – for example to help produce technical posts and case studies
• Keeping up to date with existing and emerging technologies
• Providing technical training to new sales recruits
• Attending conferences and trade shows.
• Reporting to Global Head of Sales

SKILLS REQUIRED

TECHNICAL SKILLS

• Knowledge of codecs / wrappers, transcoding and machine assisted QC techniques
• File delivery and CDN distribution knowledge
• Machine learning and machine assisted Industry techniques
• Knowledge of base band video and audio tape machines
• Storage tiering – NAS/SAN LTO architecture

INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE

1. Broadcast and /or Postproduction experience – production operations or engineering
2. Corporate IT skills – 365 and OS – Windows and Linux – OSX optional
3. Production IT skills – Data storage NAS/SAN or Production processing applications
4. Software development basics or Product management via Agile Scrum methodology
