Memnon has just completed the digitization of more than 4,000 hours of video in just four months for IFREMER.

Formed in 1984, IFREMER is the French Research Institute for Exploitation of the Sea that advances knowledge of the oceans and their resources, monitors the marine environment and fosters sustainable development of maritime activities. To accomplish this IFREMER operates French oceanographic vessels, as well as underwater systems and ocean instruments.

Through our proven organizational and technical methods, Memnon met the challenges of coordinating videos from multiple departments of the institute, creating consistency from tapes that were stored and indexed differently. The video archive contained Betacam, VHS and DVCam with a range of duration and content.

Memnon provides a back-up of the generated files on Optical Disc Archive (ODA) cartridges and drive, the new reliable and robust solution developed by Sony for meeting very long-term archiving requirements, ideal for deep archive and near-online archive.

We take pride in contributing to the important record of IFREMER’s work.  We are honored to be entrusted with such valuable content and look forward to future collaborations with this premier institution.
