IBC2024: Driving preservation as archive deterioration reaches critical point
We’re looking forward to heading back to Amsterdam for IBC where we’ll be speaking to visitors about the vital role of technology in moving image preservation.
The Memnon team will be at IBC to talk about its ongoing work digitising invaluable stories, historical archives and cultural treasures that must be preserved safely and protected for future generations. We’ll be discussing how the combination of playback machine obsolescence and degrading assets presents the perfect opportunity to realise real value from archival media content, especially as demand for the world’s film and television archives continues to increase.
Memnon will also be on hand to talk to visitors about the latest innovations in archival technology, including the integration of AI and its impact on how they curate, catalogue and think about content.
We asked CEO Heidi Shakespeare about what our focus for conversations at the show will be and she said: “with playback machines for historical audio and video assets getting scarcer, along with the engineering expertise to run them, there’s never been a more crucial time to preserve historical materials. The technology we need to act on the increasing appetite for digitisation is evolving rapidly and maturing to meet the high demand. We’re looking forward to connecting with show visitors to speak about how Memnon is staying at the forefront of these efforts at this year’s IBC.”
From library migration to content services, attendees at the show will gain insight on the diverse range of services available at Memnon for broadcasters, production companies and content distributors.
Memnon will be exhibiting on booth C26 in Hall 8 from 13th – 16th September 2024 at RAI Amsterdam.
