The Challenge 

A prominent broadcaster required a meticulous migration of two extensive tape libraries. The first was a collection of 26,000 carriers from a local channel with content from recent decades, and the second, a historical archive of nearly 5,000 carriers dating back to the 1930s. The ambition was to ensure these collections would be preserved in a secure and accessible digital format. 

 

The Solution 

The project, initiated in February 2021, involved the migration of 657 TiB of content. Memnon managed the end-to-end migration process and facilitated the transfer of the archives to Amazon Web Services (AWS) S3, providing a reliable, scalable, and secure cloud storage environment. This transfer to AWS S3 marked a significant step towards enhancing the preservation, accessibility, and utility of the digital archives.
