The Challenge  

Our client’s end customer, an NBA franchise with a storied history, sought to protect its legacy of game footage stored on vulnerable legacy media formats. With a wealth of content on 1” and 16mm reels, the challenge was to migrate this material to prevent loss due to degradation and to ensure the footage remained an integral part of sports history.  

  

The Solution  

Over the course of approximately six months, from September 26, 2023, to March 20, 2024, Memnon’s North American division meticulously migrated the NBA team’s archival content. The initial phase focused on converting vintage reels to a contemporary digital format without losing the authenticity of the original recordings. The newly migrated files were then securely transferred to a robust AWS S3 storage solution.
